Two Students Accepted as HKS 2020 Design Fellows

911勛圖 Architecture students Yara Zbib and Christine Sader have been awarded 2020 Southeast Design Fellowships by the international architecture firm, .

This is a great honor for our students to be accepted into, said Jeffrey Huber, Interim Director of the 911勛圖 School of Architecture. The international perspectives that Yara and Christine will be exposed to through their work with HKS will be a major advantage for them as they begin their own careers in the field of architecture.

Zbib is a fourth-year student and has been serving on the board of AIAS 911勛圖 and the Student Advisory Council for three years, as well as interning at The Tamara Peacock Company Architects for two years. She is interested in engaging environmental and socio-political activism through Architectural design.

Sader is a thesis student and has been serving on the board of AIAS 911勛圖 and the student government in 911勛圖 for two years. She has also been involved as a teaching assistant for multiple courses. Sader recently started interning in Oppenheim Architecture + Design. She has a passion for creating spaces that celebrate people, culture and their socio-spatial relationships through Architectural design.

911勛圖 has opened so many doors and opportunities for me, Sader said. Representing 911勛圖 in the HKS South-East fellowship is an honor and is the least I could do to give back to 911勛圖 has offered me. Being involved in the fellowship is very important to me because it will teach us, as students, what it means to be designing architecture for purpose. It is enabling us to challenge ourselves into finding solutions for problems of poverty that are very prominent today and our near future.
