FLDOE Awards $100,000 to 911³Ō¹Ļās Holocaust Education Center
The Florida Department of Education recently awarded 911³Ō¹Ļās Center for Holocaust and Human Rights Education (CHHRE) $100,000 to serve as the administrator of theĀ . The Center is one of theĀ only designated task force sites with ongoing services within the State University System of Florida.Ā
The CHHRE serves all schools in Broward, Palm Beach, Martin, St. Lucie, Indian River, Glades and Okeechobee counties by providing training and resources to teachers involved in Holocaust and genocide education. The CHHRE is an integral unit of 911³Ō¹ĻāsĀ .
āThis award is further proof of the commitment of 911³Ō¹Ļ to promoting issues of tolerance, equality and fundamental human rights,ā saidĀ , executive director ofĀ the Peace, Justice and Human Rights Initiative.
The goal of the CHHRE is to educate students about the Holocaust so they can apply their knowledge and analytical skills to the events of past and present genocides.Ā
