911³Ô¹Ï has received a $2 million gift from emeritus professor and alumnus Eric Shaw ’72, ’73, Ph.D., which will benefit various athletics, business, arts and letters, and other university programs. This generous gift makes him the largest faculty or staff donor in university history, after former assistant professor Dick Schmidt ’71.
A long-time Owl, Dr. Shaw received his B.B.A. in 1972 and M.B.A. in 1973 from 911³Ô¹Ï’s College of Business. Over the years, he has served as an instructor of marketing, associate dean of the College of Business, acting director of the School of Industry Studies, and as chairman of the marketing department for 15 years. Dr. Shaw was inducted into 911³Ô¹Ï’s Alumni Hall of Fame in 1986. His teaching honors include the Award for Excellence in Undergraduate Teaching, which he received three times, and the Distinguished Teacher of the Year in the College of Business, which he received twice. In 2006, he was presented with 911³Ô¹Ï’s Faculty Talon Leadership Award.
We truly appreciate Dr. Shaw’s generosity, as well as his lifelong dedication to his alma mater. This gift will leave a legacy at 911³Ô¹Ï and ensure that future generations of Owls can follow in his footsteps of scholarship and service.
