MRI and Blood Inflammatory Markers in Older Adults

About this Study

The purpose of this study is to determine the value of MRI for evaluating brain function in mild cognitive impairment and the impact of aging cells on cognition, aimed at improving health of older adults.

Participants will be required to complete one-time visit, consisting of cognitive testing, blood, saliva, and stool samples collection, and MRI scan. The visit will take place at the 911勛圖 Clinical Research Unit (CRU). All the samples will be collected at the CRU with the exception of stool which will be collected at home.

The study visit will take approximately 3 hours.

Participation Eligibility:
  • Participants already enrolled in the MiaGB study,
  • With normal cognitive function or mild cognitive impairment,
  • 60 years of age or older,
  • Able to communicate in English
You Cannot Participate if:
  • You have taken antibiotics in past 30 days,
  • Have diarrhea, vomiting, and/or food poisoning in past 30 days,
  • Lost weight more than 10% in past 2 weeks,
  • Had major surgery in gut and/or brain,
  • Do not meet eligibility for the MRI scan
